Apparition

This thread is (currently) only for Kai, Jarili, Rysmarin (if they respond) and Pelenal.

Pelenal appeared before the adventurers.
"Are you friend or foe?"

KAI

((Is this inside the underground entrance? Is Kai considered to be inside already? Also, based on the name of the thread, is Pelenal some sort of spirit or an flesh & blood creature?))

(Sorry, I thought Leucistic filled you in on this.)

The figure appears before them, within the chamber.

(Leucistic needs to fill in the rest, I'm not quite sure myself.)

((Sorry, this is all RP. Pelenal, you are aware of the powers of your current state based upon the PMs we have sent. You have to fill Kai in on what's happening.))

((Kai, you are just inside the necromancers domain. The exit to the boneyard is just behind you, slightly up the ramp. The rest is between you all. Be as descriptive as possible. As Kai can attest, I award for good RP.))

KAI

Kai tenses at the sound of a disembodied voice, eyes searching his surroundings for where it originates from, muttering under his breath, no louder than a whisper.

"Why is it always magic?"

In a louder voice.

"I imagine that would depend on whose friend or foe you refer to. Why don't you show yourself and we can talk more."

Kai, short sword in hand (his more specialized one), lowers the tip of the sword slightly, into a less threatening position.

PELENAL

Pelenal projects himself before them, a large man in the armor of a Legion knight.
"I am Pelenal Varius, templar commander of the Legion, cleanser of undeath. I came here for the purpose of destroying this necromancer and finishing the work I started years ago, but my men and I met an ill fate. Now, I am trapped here until you can free me, if you are of the heart."

Pelenal awaits the response.

KAI

A paladin?? This gets better and better.

Kai clears his throat before speaking.

"How are you trapped here? Do you know what must be done to free you?"

PELENAL

"There are forces at work here, other than the necromancer. Some sort of ancient Elven magic. It has imprisoned me somewhere within this lair, and allows me to appear before you. I do not know where I lay, but deeper inside, there is an ancient section built long before the rest. It is there the magic trapped me, and there I believe is where I can be freed. Beware, for the lair is filled with the deadliest of traps. They were our undoing more than any undead."

KAI

"Oh joy. Do you remember anything at all of your travel into this place? It may help us locate you faster."

Wonderful, traps, undead, a necromancer, and even more magic. This just gets better and better by the minute.

KAI

"Well, we can offer no promises, but we will see what we can do to aid you. If freed, would you be willing to aid us in destroying the necromancer?"

Not my personal choice for a companion, but then beggars can't be choosers now can they...

PELENAL
"I came here to destroy this necromancer, and I intend to finish the task."

Pelenal takes a closer look at the party before him.

"I have told you of me, and how I came here. Who are you? Why are you enemies of this foe of life?"

KAI

"My name is Kai. Through a series of...events, I ended up a guest of an elven enclave that has recently come under attack by the minions of this necromancer. I have offered them my assistance, as has Rysmarin here, in ridding them of this evil."

As he speaks, Kai gestures towards the sorcerer.

"The dwarf is Jarili. We came across him wandering the jungle and, as he seeks adventure, enlisted him to come slay the evil undead and their master. He agreed and has been with us since."

PELENAL

Pelenal notes the cryptic wording, wary of deception. However, he also considers Kai's willingness in need, but wonders if there is anything in it for him.

"What are these elves like? A mysterious sometimes perilous kind they are."

(Ooc: Just trying to get a feel for the campaign)

KAI

"The elves are currently displaced from their home, which is another story entirely and one better told by them. The king is a bit eccentric, but the wizard who seems to be heading up the important parts of defending the enclave seems to only have his people's best interest at heart. I am indebted to them for their hospitality and wish only to aid them to the best of my ability, meager though they may be compared to my companions."

((OOC: Completely understood. You'll get used to it, Kai tends to be very vague and evasive in many of his answers, especially when the questions center on him))

As Pelenal and Kai talk Kai feels the ground start to shake, low at first and then more forcefully. Stomping can be heard outside the entrance.

KAI

Kai whirls to the side of the entrance way, working his way as close to the corner as possible, gesturing for the other two to do the same, ready to activate his cloak if needed. As he does so, he hides the everburning torch to mask the light, pulls his mace from his pack, and holds the torch, wrapped in his cloak, ready to drop it from the folds should the light be needed.

He stands ready to attack or defend as needed, but mostly seeks to remain unnoticed.

Hide (1d20+16) = 1+16 = FAIL

Move Silently (for the actions) (1d20 + 15) = 16+15 = 31 (but failed quietly at least)
