The Necromancers Domain

KAI

As Kai exits the entryway, he suppresses a shudder at the paladin's words.

Wonderful, a necromancer who has had quite some time to perfect his craft...

Kai is confident there are no traps located in the area he searched.

KAI

Kai returns to the rest of the group.

"Room looks clear as near as I can tell."

He turns to Iago.

"You continuing to scout ahead?" If so, just let me know what you want me to check next."

KAI

"I think we may want to head for the area indicating that there are puzzles. I doubt that elven magic would have trapped the paladin in the more frequently used areas of the necromancer's domain."

KAI

"Be that as it may, why put puzzles or traps in the middle of your lair unless it is to either prevent someone from reaching the area... or to contain something therein. I had the impression, from Pelenal's tale, that he had infiltrated quite some way and ended up in a portion of the lair that seemed to belong to an older construction."

Yuki nods solemnly at Pelenal's words, then addresses Kai. "I love puzzles. The mental stimulation would definitely prepare us for the chaotic battles that are bound to come."

KAI

"We probably want to work our way through the hallway on the right. I'd hate to run into that construct again. It may not be so friendly when it doesn't have bodies attached to it and, given previous experience, they are quite brutal in a fight."

If nobody contests the direction, Kai will start down the right hallway. He will, as he approaches the corner, hug the wall and peer carefully around the corner.

Yuki and Rathnaya follow at a safe distance, 30ft behind the leader.

Kai, torch is hand, makes his way down the corridor. Peeking around the corner Kai can see very little, just a hallway leading north. Remembering the map, Kai knows the recess in the wall ahead leads to an area marked "Feeding Grounds".

KAI

Kai will head north, again peeking around the corner when he comes to the end. He will shield the torch with his cloak in an attempt to prevent the light from illuminating the entrance to the "feeding grounds".

As Kai gets closer to the door he begins to hear sounds of movement, although muffled.

KAI

Kai will continue walking, muffling the torch completely until he estimates he is at least halfway between the "feeding grounds" door and the end of the hall at which time he will pull the torch back out, shielding it so that it does not shine behind him. He will attempt to walk as quietly as possible.

Move Silently (1d20+15) = 19+15 = 34

Move Silently: 16+4=20

Move Silently (Yuki): 4 (roll) +3 (modifier) = 7
Move Silently (Rathnaya): 12 (roll) +3 (modifier) = 15

(OoC- Apparently, Yuki steps on a squeaky stone.)

Kai muffles the torch in his cloak (it sheds no heat and doesn't ignite things).

((Due to previous posts and some assumptions I had the marching order as such:

Kai
Iago
Jarili/Rysmarin
Yuki/Wolf - about 30 feet behind Kai

Iago, Jarili ((amazingly)) and Rysmarin make it across the doors threshold without issue. Yuki, unable to see in the dark, inadvertently steps on a loose stone, causing the stone to pivot and crack loudly against another stone.

Instantly all movement sounds stop. Kai, being thirty feet ahead of Yuki ((at the corner basically)) doesn't hear this, although the remainder of the group notices the difference.

((I need a split second action for every party member except for Kai.))

Yuki Onna freezes (OoC- Hehe, there's my bad pun for the day.), hoping the silence is an indicator that the creatures are listening for further noises. Rathnaya's hair stands on end as she stares at the door, ready to defend her master.

The quiet doesn't last for long as the mostly decrepit door bursts open as creatures that Yuki identifies easily as ghouls smash through it. One of the ghouls comes straight for Yuki, but the hallway is too narrow for more then one to advance at a time. Yuki is over to see over the crouching creatures and sees atleast 4 other ghouls behind it.

((I need init for Yuki, Iago and the wolf. The remainder of the party either doesn't know whats going on (Kai) or is frozen due to inaction (Jarili and Rysmarin).))
