Elven Encampment

KORWIN

Noting the bones and rotting flesh on most of the creatures, Korwin decides to move directly south to I-8 and use his spiked chain against the sneaky creature.

Trip Attack: 1d20: 13 + 13 = 26

The figure in the archer’s tower, having already killed the towers’ defender, uses its senses to determine the location of the closest living thing. Turning to look directly at Korwin and Krod, the spirit being flies forward, incorporeal and moves to attack Korwin, the closest, before coming into a beam of sunlight. The movement causes the party to notice it clearly for the first time. Barely visible even in the light, the figure appears ghostlike in its transparency. Screaming, the figure stops dead in its tracks.

Korwin glances to the west and notices the creatures decaying and rotting and decides to head to the south, sending his chain whirling through the air and easily wraps his around the feet of the creature. Korwin notices that while the creatures isn’t dripping flesh, there is something wrong with its features, as it seems twisted and moves with an awkward gait. ((Korwin, I need a STR check to trip.))

Finally getting the fight he has wanted, Krod moves forward to attack the ogre, swinging his chain around and snapping it down violently, pulling flesh and bones from the creatures’ midsection that sizzle from the acid on his chain. The ogre shambles forward with purpose, movement not slowed in the least, straight towards Krod.

KORWIN

Strength Check: 1d20 16 + 0 = 16

Korwin’s chain snaps around the ankles of the creature he is facing and with a grin he yanks its feet out from under it, tumbling it to the ground.

More rumbling is heard as something big moves through the forest, unseen by the party.

Jumping to its feet, the creature Korwin tripped moves to attack. Another creature appears next to it, dressed identically, and advances on Korwin through the jungle. It swings its short sword at Korwin, but Korwin dodges easily. ((Korwin I need an AOO on W1.))

The skeletons ((S1 and S2)) move forward towards Krod. Other skeletons move forward through the jungle, no longer attempting to hide their presence. ((Krod, you can take up to two AOOs on each skeleton, if you wish.))

Seeing the slower moving skeletons advancing Krod yanks the chain free and spinning around brings the chain down with force on the first of the skeletons. As the spikes cause chunks of bone to scatter from the first he continues the motion so that the chain strikes the other skeleton as it advances, acid scoring both as it sizzles and melts away some of the bone.

KORWIN

Korwin grins as the creature drops to the ground, and then blinks in surprise as there appears to be more than he originally noticed. Reaching out with his spiked chain, he strikes at the creature, hoping to shred it with the sharp blades and links.

1d20 attack roll: 10 +13 = 23

1d6 damage roll: 2 + 0 = 2

Krod strikes out, taking down the two skeletons that dared get close. Korwin strikes out as his opponent stands, scoring a hit, but only doing minor damage.

Horns sound from the east and the party can hear the sounds of footsteps approaching fast, and orders delivered in elven.

In front of Korwin, behind the creature he is facing, a large metal plated monster appears. Hunched almost completely over and covered in spiked metal armor, the creature appears very formidable.

More zombies shuffle out from the depths of the jungle, showing the party is vastly outnumbered. The largest of them, the one Krod attacked, moves forward to attack the goliath, stepping on the skeleton Krod just dropped. ((Krod gets an AOO on the ogre zombie))

Krod watches as the two skeletons crumble under his blows then seeing the Ogre slow slightly as he stomps on the remains of one of the skeletons as he closes, Krod reverses the chain's momentum and snakes it out towards the Ogre again.

Krod’s blow takes off the right arm of the ogre, but it plows forward, unperturbed. The giant zombie brings its left hand down in a fist, crashing into Krod’s shoulder. ((Krod takes 15 damage))

More zombies shamble out of the jungle into view.

Korwin takes a 5' step to the east ( I-9 ) and attempts to trip the creature at J-7 ( W1? hard to read the label ) and then quickly fades from view immediately following his trip attempt.

Seeing undead rise up from practically everywhere Krod grins wide, steps to the south ((5' step to H7)) and whipping the chain in an overhead arc strikes at two of the skeletons and the ogre in one wide, sweeping attack ((great swing - attack J6, Ogre, J7)).

Damge (2d6+1d6 acid):6, 5, 1 +14 = 26

KAI

Kai drops his pack and one of his swords and pulls a mace out of his pack to replace it, leaving the sword on the ground by the pack.

Dazed, the ghostly figure is unable to move.

Korwin moves slightly and attempts to trip the wight who attacked him, but it easily shifts out of the way from the incoming chain and turns back to Korwin, but finds him gone.

Krod, seeing the amount of enemies surrounding him and Korwin, swings his chain around towards the closest skeleton. The chain curls around its neck as it continues its path to the next target, the creature Korwin is fighthing. Whisking overtop the head of Korwin, it hits the creature Korwin is fighting, causing the neck of the skeleton it first encountered to pop off and crumble to the ground. Krod’s strength is so great that his swing continues on, after removing the chest from the wight, and takes off one of the legs of the ogre zombie, which falls to the ground and lies still. ((Krod, you can make your cleave attempt against E6, S4, S5, or S3.))

The large spike-armored creature continues moving towards the tree the tower and elf are in. Grabbing hold of the tree, the creature starts to shake the tree mightily, causing the elf above to have to hold onto the railing to keep his balance.

Kai, quickly realizing his swords will be of little use against this particular foe, drops one and unshoulders his pack, retrieving a mace stored inside, and holds it firmly in his hand.

The wight previously tripped by Korwin, seeing Korwin disappear, moves towards Krod, the closest available living creature, while the wight to the north of Krod, and another wight that appears northwest next to it, zone in on him. ((Korwin and Krod each get an AOO on W1, Krod can have AOOs on W3 and W4 if he wishes))

The elves, used to the jungle environment of their homeland, continuing sprinting forward to engage the horde of undead, easily transversing the overgrown foliage. One elf runs straight towards the dazed ghost-like creature and swings his halberd, but misses it.

((Will continue the combat when I get the cleave and the AOOs))

As Krod's spiked chain's drops the ogre he sees a skeleton behind it that is within his reach and cleaves into it ((S5)). As more of the creatures close Krod lashes out with his chain as the opportunties present themselves...

KORWIN

Korwin shouts encouragement to his large friend, "Well done Krod! Keep it up! I'll trip 'em, you trounce 'em!"

With that outburst, Korwin snakes his chain around the feet of W1 and yanks, hoping to drop the wight to the dirt.

Krod’s chain whips out as the ogre zombie falls, snaking its way towards the closest skeleton and downing it easily.

With the wights on the move Korwin’s and Krod’s chains both shoot out, Korwins in a failed attempt to trip the moving wight, while Krod attempts to destroy the creatures. Krod’s chain hits the three advancing wights, dropping one of them to the ground. The other two close on the goliath and attack. Krod dodges out of the way of one … right into the path of the other. A sword slice down his right shoulder blade brings a small cry of pain from the giant man. ((Krod takes 5 damage))

Two elves continue past the body of the wight Krod just brought down and move in to attack, one on the spectre and one on the wight. Both just barely miss their intended targets. Two more elves run towards the wight passing by Korwin. Each attacking, both miss. Two elves run straight at the spiked-metal creature and attack, but their weapons bounce right off the heavy metal armor the creature is wearing.

Kai can see more elves running into the area, including a curious naked elf with long white beard who, as he runs by Kai says, “What are you doing all the way back here, Kai Vendriss of Impria?” The smith isn’t far behind the remaining elves, two handed hammer held easily in his hands.

More skeletons and zombies appear out of the jungle, moving with single-minded purpose towards those still living. Unable to make their way over the fallen body of the ogre, two skeletons move around it to the north, one coming directly at Krod. ((Krod I will need your last AOO for the round, if you wish to take it.))

One skeleton advances one of the elves (Elf 2) that attacked the spiked-metal armor creature and swings its sword, hitting the elf across the back. A zombie approaches another elf (Elf 7) and swings his fists, but misses.

More crashing sounds are heard further in the jungle when three more of the metal armor creatures appear through the jungle.

As the skeletons move around the body of the Ogre Krod sees an opening and his spiked chain flashes through the air once again with deadly aim at it's target ((whichever skeleton is fine))

Krod’s chain swings out again and again he takes down a creature, this time a skeleton. Another skeleton moves in right behind it and attacks Krod, but misses.

The spectre, coming out of its daze, sees three elves right in front of it. Shiftly slightly to stay outside of the light peering through the jungle roof, the spectre attacks the closest elf (Elf 7). The spectre’s hand whips out and lightly touches the face of the elf, causing him to scream in pain. He seems to shudder for a moment before regaining focus.

KORWIN

Wanting to provide support for his big friend, and attempt to take advantage of any opportunities to attack that might come his way, Korwin tumbles through I8 to H7 and lashes his spiked chain out in an attempt to trip the wight (W1).

Smiling widely at both Korwin's comments as well as the numbers of undead both dropping and arriving, Krod enthusiastically swings his spiked chain overhead attacking the mass of undead ((great swing -S8, S5, S1, will cleave into E6 (spectre) if I hit S8))

Kai moves to (F9) and is prepared to fight defensively should an enemy attack (should grant +3 to AC due to tumbling). Kai mutters to himself.

"Of all things.... why can't they just be things that can at least bleed!?!"

Korwin, hoping to provide some help to his giant friend, tumbles into the fray, coming up with the chain whirling, and swings it at the wight nearest, but gets the chain caught in the thick underbrush.

Krod, having fun for the first time since arriving at the Elven encampment, again swings his chain in a huge arc and takes down three skeletons. Using the momentum of the chain to swing out at the ghostly image, but the chain continues through the monster unimpeded. ((I rolled this miss chance, but go ahead and roll your own in the future.))

The spiked creature (O1) turns to face the nearest elves, inhales and breaths a cone of green gas that envelopes the two elves. Both elves immediately freeze in place and don’t move again. A elf further back (11) gets caught in the cone, but is able to dodge his way out of the way before it’s paralyzing effects can take hold.

Kai, mace and sword in hand now, moves into the fray next to two elves.

One wight (W1), able to see Korwin again, makes its attack on him, but Korwin easily dodges the blow. The other (W4) attempts to pummel Krod with his bare hands but misses badly.

Three elves (5, 6, 7) all swing at the spectre. One blow gets through, causing the spectre to scream in rage. Two elves (3, 4) both attack a wight (W1) and hit, dropping it to the ground. Three elves (8, 9, Smith) move to engage the closest spiked creature (O2) and attack. Two halberds misses the massive target while the smith’s two blows ring with impact upon the spiked armor, but appear to cause no damage. The remaining elves move forward, two to engage the southernmost spiked creature (O1), both halberds clanking off of metal armor. The curious naked elf sprints forward, uncaring of his current dress. Coming to a stop behind the line of elves, he shoots his hand out, mumbling something about being interrupted while performing his duties, and points at the closest zombies. Four bolts of energy spring from his fingertips, two hitting one zombie (Z7) and two hitting another (Z8) but neither zombie seems to notice. More elves arrive from the north and east.

One skeleton (S10) attacks one of the paralyzed elves, raking its claws across his neck. Another skeleton (S7), moves into the spot vacated by the recently (re)deceased skeleton, giving Krod the chance to swing his chain at it. The last skeleton (S4) moves further north, shambling into a spot that allows him to attack an elf (9), but he too misses badly. ((Krod, you may take your AOO on S7 if you wish))

One of the spiked metal creatures (O4), moves around the archer tower to the south, meeting the elf (13) when it stops its movement. Reaching out, it grabs the elf around the leg with one hand, easily lifting it from the ground. Another one (O3) moves over the body of the ogre zombie, which is rough considering the dead ogres size, and grabs Korwin around the waist, its huge hand closing tightly around him. The last creature, seeing itself engaged by a number of foes, inhales and breaths some of that paralyzing green gas out, enveloping a number of elves (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Smith, 14, 15) of which only one (7) is able to resist. Kai is also caught in the blast ((Kai, I will need a reflex save)).

The zombies continue to shuffle about, slowly engaging the closest living creature. Two zombies (Z1 & Z8) get close enough to attack some elves (7 & 10, respectively). Both miss.

The spectre, still in pain from the blow from the elf, lashes out at the same elf (7), causing the elf to scream before crumpling to the ground, dead.
