Onwards

The party gathers around Kai at the stone slab, Jarili's heavy feet crunching bone with every step. Iago easily flies over the area, coming to rest lightly by Kai ((unless you want to stay airborne)).

(I prefer to stay airborne whenever practical, and I have enough maneuverability to hover, I believe.)

KAI

"Ready?"

As soon as everyone indicates they are, Kai will trigger the release latch, weapons readied.

KAI

Kai will release the catch for the slap and, trying to be as quiet as possible, open the "door".

Iago will ready himself to blast at anything under the door that looks hostile.

Bad memories of his time spent in underground dungeons threatened to well up from the depths of his mind, but he suppressed the thoughts through force of will, determined not to show weakness before the others, and driven to get his revenge.

"Youl might want to prepare for a nasty encounter," he whispered to Jarili. "Bet you ten gold crowns it gets hot down there."

Tensely, Kai pulls the latch, ready for anything. The stone slab begins to slide open, but moves slowly. The party can see an underground staircase appear as the stone moves slowly open.

As the stone continues to move the ground beneath the feet of the party begins to shake. Actually, it's not the ground that moves, but the bones themselves. They seem to be moving away from the party, being pulled towards something.

((Everybody on the ground make Balance checks))

A little ways off in the distance the party can see the bones start to form ... something. The party notices three distinct areas where the bones are moving and forming something as they reach their destination.

((All of the "formations" are no less then 30 feet from the party and no more then 60 feet away.))

((The forming is slow and the party can take actions while they are doing so. The stone is not yet open enough for the party to move down the staircase.))

KAI

Kai tries to steady himself enough to keep opening the door.

"Wonderful. See what you can do while I continue to open this?"

Balance (1d20 + 16) = 17+16 = 33

Iago will attempt to identify the enemy with Knowledge Devotion and Collector of Stories so that he can do more damage, and line up a shot at the nearest pile of bones.

As Kai realizes that the door will continue opening on its own, he pulls the mace from his pack, unsheathes one of his swords with his other hand.

Well, if we weren't expected before we probably are now.

Kai looks with interest to see if there is any reaction from the bone pile that Iago hurled... fire??? at.

Iago has never heard of anything like this before, although is seems obvious that it's some sort of necromatic magic. ((Iago, please modify your damage since you failed the check)) Taking aim, he lets loose his blast which barrels into the forming bones, showering the immediate area with bone fragments. When the bone dust settles, the party can see the bones continue to form, although this pile is no longer forming at the same pace as the other two.

Rysmarin and Jarili are obviously in shock, as they stay rooted in place and haven't moved.

((Since I received no posts from Rysmarin or Jarili, their turn is void, so it's back to the beginning.))

The bone piles continue to form what appear to be 4-legged creatures.

"Get over yourselves and attack!"

Iago will attack again.

As Kai pulls his weapons he moves to the closes pile that is forming, falling naturally into the flow of battle.

First Primary Attack (Mace) (1d20+11) = 19+11 = 30
Damage (1d6+4)= 3+4 = 7
Off-hand attack (short sword) (1d20+5)= 11+5 = 16
1d6+1= 5+1 = 6
Second Primary Attack (Mace - if he's allowed to take a full attack action, otherwise it will just be the first two attacks) (1d20+6)= 13+6 = 19
Damage (1d6+4)= 5+4 = 9

"Good, hit," Iago congratulates. "Glad to see I'm not the only one with a bone to pick."

KAI

Kai winces inside at the pun.

"Any idea what they are?"

Kai attempts to maneuver into a position where he can keep an eye on as many (if not all) of the bone piles.

As Kai finishes his question, the two piles furthest away stop forming. The group notices that they are very large, standing about 6 feet at the shoulder, are four legged and appear to be slightly different from each other. The closer of the two creatures appears to resemble a giant cat of some sort, while the other appears to be a dog-like figure, maybe a wolf. The pile that had been attacked is not yet fully formed, as bone has fragmented from the multiple successful attacks by the party members.

The giant undead creatures both pause for a second before swerving to focus on the party.

((I will now need INIT from everybody. Below is a map of the current positions. Let me know if you think your character would be in different positions, but as everybody was centered around the latch and only Kai has moved...))

((ouch))

Iago will target the lion so as to avoid hitting Kai.

Attack: 17+8=25
Damage: 6+6+3+5=20

Ok, that didn't work the first time.

Init: 13+7=20

"Can anyone identify these damn monstrosities, because I'm drawing blanks," Iago yells, somewhat unnerved at his inability to understand his enemy.

KAI

Kai shouts back.

"Not sure, maybe some type of construct? Not like any undead I've encountered before... though we already know that this necromancer has constructs in his arsenal... very large ones."

KAI

As his mace and short sword continue to pummel the forming bone pile, Kai calls out to his other two companions.

"Jarili, Rysmarin? Either of you know what these are?"
